Long Bio
Born into a musical family, one of Mark's first memories is watching his mothers feet gently step on the pedals of the piano. Gospel music , pop radio, and classical music were on heavy rotation in the Bezanson house. As a teen MTV captivated the ear with Sting, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Paul Young, and a healthy dose of the Beatles, Jazz and older Blues shared on mix tapes. Mark’s music is a mix of blues, pop, jazz and folk that combine elements of Theo Katzman, John Mayer, and David Wilcox. While not a classic blues man at first blush, it is undeniable that blues and soul music runs deep in Marks singing and songwriting. Mark started recording his new album Wire and Wood just before the start of Covid. This collection of 10 songs has themes of love, the ocean, the loss of his father, navigating todays world of socials and the sometimes harsh realities of living, loving, and sometimes losing the people you love. Don't worry though, there is joy in this collection of songs too.
A graduate of the St. Francis Xavier University Jazz Program, Mark is a sought-after bassist, guitarist, and singer currently living in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia. Mark is a member of Jokers Right, the valleys best Classic Rock band. He is also a member of R&B Rock and Soul unit The Big Sound Small Band. He is a much sought-after sideman, playing with many local and touring artists such as Linda McLean and The Awakening as well as Sarah Pound and the Sequels. As a performer you can expect a big man with a big voice who sings with a joyful, relaxed style.
